We’re expected to live our whole life in a set of boxes: you’re “this” type of mom, you live in “that” part of town, you find a specific “set” of interests and stick with it. We’re taught to color inside the lines from our cradle.
But, coloring (or living) inside the lines is BORING.
Welcome to Yankee Meets Dixie! I’m Jillian: a chronic living-outside-the-lines-er, no matter how hard I’ve tried to be the opposite. I’m a born and raised Southern girl who’s married to Lars, (the best New Yorker on the planet,) and a mama of two. We live in a 30 ft. camper in rural MS, on a multi-family homestead. I’m here to share my crazy, messy life and encourage you to embrace the messiness in yours too!
We explore all kinds of things here: motherhood, rural life, camper/tiny life, baking, homesteading, outdoor projects, even hunting and fishing!
A lot of lifestyle content pushes a way of living that colors neatly inside the lines: 100% aesthetic, difficulty free, and frankly – NOT REAL.
I want to provide truly sustainable lifestyle content, and encourage others that going against the grain in life (or living outside the lines) can be SUPER messy, but also attainable, worth it, and BEAUTIFUL!
This blog is for anyone curious about what alternative lifestyles can look like and mamas like me who are just trying to figure things out.
So grab your ball cap, a glass of sweet tea, and your sense of fun: we’re Living Outside The Lines.
